During the last year, the Chamber has strived to improve and fur there develop commercial relations between Canada and Mexico, and has seen a significant increase in the commercial links between these two countries after the signing of NAFTA between the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Our focus is to promote these relations and to persuade Canadian and Mexican investors to increase their business links and their confidence in developing future business opportunities.
The first Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Mexico was built in 1982 in Mexico City to satisfy the need for a bilateral trade institution. The Matamoros Chamber was built in 2004, and the considerable growth of our members has allowed us to have representatives in almost all business sectors, from banks to manufacturing and telecommunications.
Our mission is to represent, serve, and defend Canadian companies' interests, as well as assisting them in their integration into the Mexican regional community bringing the benefits of developing a network of useful contacts. To reach our mission, the Chamber:
- Will open lines of communication to spread social, economic, and political information between our members. - Will promote bilateral trade and investment between Canada and Mexico. - Will act as a forum to create connections between members and the business communities in both countries. - Will help companies make the best use of their skills, creativity and effort.
